The Ultimate Speed Related Course for Driving Instructors Who Care About What Happens After the Pass
For Instructors who know the test isn’t the end of the road
If you’re a driving instructor who cares deeply about what happens after the test, you’re in the right place.
Many of the facts and physics behind speeding aren’t widely shared or easily accessible through no fault of your own. This course fills that gap, giving you the evidence-based knowledge and activities to coach with confidence and
authority.
Beyond the Test is a course designed to help you engage your learners in real conversations and activities about speed, stress, decision-making – and all the things that actually influence how we drive in the real
world… after the pass!
With five engaging modules and supportive group sessions, you’ll get tools, insights, and fresh ideas to empower your learners well beyond their test day.
Maybe you’ve overheard the things people say on Speed Awareness Courses? I certainly hear these every time I deliver any of the NDORS Courses.
“Excess speed is a contributory factor in 1 in 3 fatal road crashes.
A crash at 30mph has twice the energy and destructive potential of a crash at 20mph.”

I commonly hear:
“I never knew that!”
“I didn’t see the signs.”
“I’ve never thought about being stressed, but that’s what happened to me.”
“I just didn’t notice my speed.”
“I drive for a living, and people make me so angry!”
And it’s no wonder. Many drivers only start reflecting after they get a ticket – or worse. But what if we could plant those seeds of self-awareness earlier? What if learner drivers left your car with more than a pass certificate – with real insight into their emotions, impulses, and habits, and how they might change over time?
That’s what this course is all about.
Course Objectives
Across five interactive modules and weekly drop-ins, I’ll teach you how to:
You’ll get a Facebook community, Zoom support, practical tools, and loads of in-car activity ideas – all designed by me to build safer drivers from the inside out.
How will the course work?
The course will run for 10 weeks, with a classroom session every 2 weeks and a recap session in the weeks in-between.
Week 1 will be a 2 hr classroom session via zoom.
Week 2 will have a drop in session running to discuss the tasks and activities given the previous week, answer any questions and review progress.
You will also have access to a range of resources on a private Facebook group for the duration of the course.
All weekly Modules and drop-in sessions will run at the same time and day as the initial session booked, starting with the date on the booking.
E.g. if you book for a session starting at 6pm on a Wednesday, all sessions in the block will run at 6pm on Wednesdays.
Course Modules
Module 1 – Myths in Motion
Unpacking the top mis-beliefs and exposing the uncomfortable truth. Includes in-car activities to challenge assumptions and encourage deeper insight.
Module 2 – Limits & Lapses
Things full licence holders often don’t know about speed limits — and what happens when autopilot takes over. Prepare them to recognise their own conscious incompetence. Includes practical in-car activities.
Module 3 – Triggers & Fire drills
Equip your learners to identify emotional and physiological triggers — and rehearse their responses before the pressure hits. Includes in-car “fire drill” coaching.
Module 4 – Forces & Flashpoints
Help learners recognise the external forces that drive speeding behaviour — from peer pressure to tailgating to time stress. Highly practical for real-life and test prep. Includes in-car tools.
Module 5 – Distractions & Directions
Teach learners how to take the wheel of their own attention — and build adaptable, transferable life skills. Includes focused in-car awareness training.
