“Hi Fiona,

had my standards check today and thanks to your help got an A (47/51).

Many thanks. D” Sept 2017

“Thank you so much for meeting up with me, it has given me some of the confidence I was lacking to go on to give a better lesson to my pupils. I love the training aid of the cars and road layouts and find myself using them everyday as the pupils seem to get to grips with this better than the lesson planner I was previously using….you are a very kind and informative person and I am so glad that you was recommended to me. I would definately recommend you to anyone struggling with their part 3 or Standards Check.
Thank you” DDW

“… thank-you so much for all your time and expertise, it really has been invaluable. Without the understanding you gave me I really do think I would be looking at my final attempt. It is also very refreshing to have a fresh approach to teaching, which Is something I am looking forward to continuing with.

I hope you have a really happy Christmas and New Year – AD”

” I had only ever achieved a grade 4 under the old check test and with my first standards check under the new marking scheme approaching I was very nervous. I attended a seminar that Fiona ran and did a few hours of 121 training with her. Right from the start Fiona was approachable and friendly and made me feel like we had been mates for ages. She is very knowledgeable with the standards check and coaching comes naturally to her. I had my standards check the other day and got a grade A. I have gone from being one of the lowest grade instructors there is to being one of the highest and it is all thanks to Fiona. I highly I highly recommend her training to anyone that needs help with coaching or standards check. Thank you Fiona !!!” BM (Standards Check Training Day and One to One Sessions)

“I came accross Fiona when I was desperately searching for someone who can give me some training to prepare me for my Standards Check Test which was just over a week away at the time. I’ve never had a check test or standards check test before, therefore, I was feeling quite stressed over it. I had taken a break from instruction for around seven months so when the standards check test loomed over me, I naturally panicked.

Having called few people who was quite happy to book me in for training without so much as finding out what my needs are and as a last minute decision to call Fiona was definitely the best move I’ve ever done. Fiona was good enough to call me and having spoken for almost an hour on the phone, my mind was put at ease and she convinced me that going for my standards check test is not as scary as I thought. Unlike the others, Fiona actually explained to me that perhaps I don’t need additional training once she had an opportunity to talk to me. She sent me some material to read via email and offered further advice by sms.

Since then, I have taken my first standards check test and happy to say I have passed. I would have probably wasted good money and still feel the stress and nerves had I not spoken to Fiona. Thank you very much for making me realise that I can do it. Talking to you definitely gave me the encouragement to go and get through my test. If I had to rate you on a scale of 1 – 10, i would most definitely rate you 11 🙂

“Hi both,

I thought I would send you a quick email in praise of Fiona.

I found Fiona was a fantastic help in putting into practice all that we had learned and in using the grow model.

Fiona is very professional and it was clear that she has an amazing understanding of coaching and that gave me great confidence in using it.

I learnt a lot from the in car coaching day and more importantly Fiona. Please pass my thanks and sincerest appreciation on to Fiona.

I will also send you a testimonial when i have completed the course but thank you both also for all your help this truly is a life changing course and that is down to your belief in your product.

Kindest Regards

” Thank you Fiona.

I have been an ADI for 10 years now but was off work for the past 2 and a half years. I have recently returned to the industry which has changed so much. Realising I needed to develop new skills in coaching and CCL, I searched for help which is when I had the pleasure of meeting Fiona. Fiona is a the most kind and down to earth individual I have met in a long time. She knows what she’s talking about and it makes sense. Fiona is very approachable and easy to talk to and boosted my confidence levels which I was lacking. Her Coaching and CCL techniques, advice and encouraging vibes have helped me turn my lessons around which I and my learners thoroughly enjoy. Thank you for getting back to me even at 6am”

Any ADI who is struggling with the Standards Check, like I was!

Just listen to Fiona, and you will achieve your objective.

Thanks Again

“Fiona,This year has seen a marked change in the way I approach learner training. The client based learning has given me so much more by way of interaction and the techniques that I learned during my recent aCCelerate and Coaching course Level 3 has given me some very useful training aids. In addition, I have recently qualified as a PCV Driving Instructor and used the coaching methods learned during the aCCelerate qualification with the examiner giving me much praise for the methods I was using, so it is not restricted to Cat B learner drivers, but very much works across the board. An excellent course and I would highly recommend it to any ADI who was looking for a different approach. Fiona with her mentoring skills was a dream to work with and her techniques for getting the best out of people really worked. Many thanks. Steve Lay-Flurrie LCGI DSA ADI”

“I have been instructing for 30 years I was very sceptical of coaching as a new method of teaching learner drivers. However after spending 2 days on a Client Centred Learning course with Fiona I have been convinced, by her enthusiasm and professionalism, that CCL and coaching is a skill worth learning. If you want to learn about driver coaching I am able to recommend Fiona highly.”

“Hi Fiona, I’ve just had a great lesson by finding out how my pupil was feeling. She asked to do dual carriage ways but was scared of going so fast and if she needed to stop she wouldn’t have time. She did a mind map of what she needed to be aware of and came up with looking further ahead to have more time to react. She wasn’t as scared to go on the dual carriage way now she felt she would have time by looking as far as she could see. Thank you for all these great ideas.    CC”

“Thank you Fiona.

Into 4th year as a driving instructor, and recently failed my Standards Check.

With 2 hour lesson from Fiona, to understand and use Coaching and to confirm my understanding of the new Standards Check using coaching, Today I passed and given amazing feedback from examiner. Coaching is my way forward and my pupils seem to love it.

Fiona you listened and helped me in the areas I needed. Thank you Fiona couldn’t have passed without you. Regards, Colchester Instructor”

“SO !!

As I had a 1hr taster lesson with beginner straight after , I took the bull by the horns !!!!

I had no idea of area other than it had a nice long, straight, wide, road that was quiet too !

The lad had been practicing in his mums Mini Cooper S’ round the church car park getting up to 3rd gear !

i asked how he liked to learn ? reply , very hands on !! so i thought what the hell , lets give it a go !!

we swapped seats & quickly went through basics to confirm he had some idea of what to do ?

after a little agreed guidence on smoothing out clutch , we were flying down the road @ 30mph !!

I felt very vulnerable &everything in me wanted to say slow down a little ! but instead I asked him to pull over safely ,which he did , then I asked if he felt comfortable & in control ? he replied . no ! I was s##t scared !! so I asked how he thought I felt !! & what he could do to make us both feel safer ???

the rest of the drive was totally controlled & safe !!

I know this is only a little snippet but normally I would have controlled the lesson far more in my comfort zone , & i felt very naked (if that doesn’t sound too weird !!)

I cant say I particularly enjoyed it but he certainly did & I can see the benefits so I shall persevere !!

many thanks DR” (Btec Level 3 Training – 2 Day Course)

“Hi Fiona, it was nearly 9 Months ago when I had the pleasure of meeting you on my Btec 3 course, I can now fully understand where your enthusiasm for this Coaching course came from, I would never have dreamt the difference it would have made to my working day as an ADI, it has made each day so much more rewarding, I feel my Pupils have gained so much too since I have put my new skills into practice! For me the listening skills along with good rapport with the pupil is just the start to ensuring there is a comfortable environment in the car for the learning to take place, discovering the preferred learning style from the pupil is another great thing I learnt from the course – with all this plus so much more I would Highly recommend the Btec 3 to anyone – as I previously said it has changed my life but more importantly my pupils, they seem so much happier with each lesson because they have discovered so much about themselves through the self evaluation skills I now encourage them with. Basically it was the best few £’s I have ever spent – never realised I’d gain so much! Thanks again Fiona for your all your kindness & continued support throughout, Debs”

“I done the Btec course with Fiona in Feb 2014. I wanted to add an extra dimension to my teaching methods and by doing the course with her it certainly has helped. “Hi all just like to share a shining light moment.

Doing crossroads with one of my girls last night and sitting in a box junction waiting to turn right, I noticed my girl getting anxious, after nearly stalling and having to catch the clutch twice, we pulled over and it took nearly 5 mins of Q & A she finally said

“My mum always moans about people being stuck in the middle “

 Aha I thought lol

A bit or reassurance and talking and the nxt crossroads, not a problem and my girl was so happy.

So happy that we popped on a cd and she sang all the way home, safely.

2 months ago I would have said dont worry about it and just did again and again till I thought she was ok.”

Fiona knows as many others that I am not a very confident person but since meeting Fiona on the aCCeLerate course her enthusiasm, kindness & support has helped me achieve this award which in return has gave me the confidence to carry onto the Btec 4 which I’d like to start next year!

  4. My problem, Failed my standards check,
Why?, I have a full diary, waiting list, decent pass rate, happy pupils.
Lack of CPD?, I try to do something on a regular basis, did a standards check day in june.
Why Fiona, Simple we have had contact on facebook about pupils with issues, and a friend had just completed a coaching course.
After a chat with Fiona I decided a one to one session might suit me better.
The result I passed my Standards Check got an A only dropped 4 point.
I cannot thank Fiona enough for her help and guidance.
So what was the problem, in simple terms I had a lot of tools but wasnt sure how to use them together. I felt a bit like Eric Morecambe. I was playing the right notes but not necessarily in the right order…..Fiona helped me see the standards check as a single issue not a list of boxes to be ticked.
So an old dog can learn new tricks.
And I am looking forward to my coaching course with Fiona in the near future.

  5. I met with Fiona yesterday, as I felt I really needed support on my upcoming standards check. Having never had one before I was full of fear, anxiety and my confidence was on the floor. Fiona really put things into perspective for me and helped me to understand the SC1 form in more depth. Meeting with Fiona has made me feel more confident and more positive about my standards check.
I also feel I was able to explore different techniques that will not only help me but also my pupils.
My experience meeting Fiona has been amazing to say the least!! She is such a lovely person and really connects with you. No matter how unsure you feel Fiona will put your mind at rest and make you feel at ease. I can’t wait to meet with Fiona again and continue our training.
